YULE BLOG... (but perhaps not quite as often as you should do, Pete)

23rd December 2011

I'm not sure about you, but just recently, I for one feel like I've been caught in an avalanche of assignments and a flurry of deadlines which have seemingly snowballed since about early November time. (hence the lack of posts on here).

However, now all the first semester stuff's out of the way and yesterday's deadline has finally been completed, I'm heeding the advice provided to me by my module content and taking a little time out to reflect (pun intended) on just how quickly the first few months have gone.

Back in September I had no idea that by Christmas, I'd be suitably trained in the art of Lego metaphors,  have my own sketchbook, journal, animation and several video presentations posted on the internet; know how to work my way around a Sony Z1, film on location, edit with Avid (which incidentally I learned from the guardian's website yesterday, that Stanley Kubrick used this very same software to edit Eyes Wide Shut - impressive);  create and present a Prezi, use Adobe Photoshop and AE, make my own wiki and blog, and learn an entire language (Film).  I think I've also learned how to become an innovative and creative thinker (or at least I think so, but I might have to Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify, Put to another use, Eliminate and Reverse this just to be 100% certain).  We will see.

I don't know how else to describe the whole uni experience so far, other than to say I'm just really enjoying myself and this course seems to be a perfect choice which reflects my interests down to a tee.

I didn't want to end the year without posting something on here and I will be undoubtedly busy for the next few days so thought I'd take the time to do this now before I go off to watch Home Alone, Gremlins and Die Hard and get into the true festive spirit of things.

So regardless of whatever everyone's doing over Christmas and New Year, I'd like to wish the MPS massive all the best and I hope you all have a very merry time ;)  Thank you to everyone I've studied with so far.  See you guys in 2012!

PS can anyone guess which film this is from?
